Community Care Northumberland (CCN) is currently looking for Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers across Northumberland County.

The Meals on Wheels program provides hot and frozen meals prepared by local providers for seniors or adults with disabilities who are not able to cook for themselves. This service also has a short term options for those who are recovering from a short term illness, or injury.

Meals on Wheels drivers deliver hot meals to clients a few days a week (days differ based on town) at around noon hour. Frozen meals are delivered occasionally as well.

“For clients, this regular stop in from our Meals on Wheels drivers is more than just a meal,” said Alicia Vandine- Regional Community Relations Coordinator.  “Our clients often express how grateful they are to open their doors to see our Meals on Wheels drivers.”

Specific routes are created by CCN, and the driver can choose the route most convenient for them, as well as how often they would like to volunteer.
